Happy New Year!

Today marks the beginning of the Year of the Dog. I don't belive there are any New Years celebrations here in Jacksonville. I kind of wish there was. I'd love to see it. I do know that around the nation there are several parades and such. I guess Jacksonville just isn't hip enough yet.

In other news, we've spent 2 days over at Jerry's mom's house setting up her computer and getting Java installed so she can play her bingo and slot machine games. I should be more patient about the whole thing, she is a stroke victim, but dang it's tough at times.

Nothing else really, Was pretty exausted after dealing with my mother-in-laws computer and stuff. Both Jerry and I were a little snappy the past few days. We laughed at each other at times because we'd snap. Thank goodness we both knew that it was the situation and not each other that made us grumpy. :)

Serenity now!

There is a site call Firefly Season 2 to help revive Firefly.  PLEASE visit it and fill out the profile.  Who knows, maybe they'll offer it on iTunes for $1.99 an episode or something.   I'd pay that much.  They really need to get that back on the air.  I'm shocked that Scifi hasn't made them an offer.  Maybe this is something that will push the Scifi Channel into making a decision.  Help spread the signal!

Joss himself said he didn't even know about that website, but that doesn't mean it won't still happen.

Heck, the Brits brought back Doctor Who after nearly 16 years hiatus, it was never really canceled. Funny thing is, the head of the BBC, is the same guy that put it on hiatus 16 years ago because he didn't like it. Now he has nothing but nice things to say about how great it is, I think the UK govt. told him if he wanted to stay the head of the BBC, he should leave it alone. :) I think like March 15th they are airing the 9th Doctor on Sci Fi, in the slot for Atlantis. It's only 13 episodes, but that's like a typical Sci Fi season anyway. They'll be airing the 10th Doctor on BBC in a few months, and they're working on a spin-off called Torchwood, (notice, same letters, an anagram).

Apparently it is now cool to be a geek in England. People who used to hate the show like it now. :)

What other show has been around with the same main character (with different faces LOL) for 42 years (minus 16, but the books and audio dramas kept going), and has been, educational, sci-fi, and some horror rolled in. Well, that's Doctor Who. The only one as far as I can tell. :)

Firefly should be allowed to last that long.

Happy Birthday Mozart!

Today marks the day of one of the most amazing composers of all time. I can't tell you how much I love Mozart's music. Here are few links that are a wonder place to get to know more about Mozart.

The Mozart Project
Classical Music Archives: Mozart
Classica Net - Basic Repepertorie List - Mozart

I remember going to piano competitions and I always had to have a Mozart piece in my program. His music is alluring and vibrant. It must have been so odd to be so brilliant. Okay, now I'm rambling so I'll just listen to my favorite the Concert Rondo in D, K.382 When I was good, and practiced a lot I could play along with the recording. Now, I stumble through it. I should really practice more. I just have different interests right now. Maybe one day I'll be good again. Posted by Picasa

Bedtime ramblings

Coffee...I love it. Don't usually make it at home, yes..I'm spoiled..but tonight had two cups of Vanilla coffee. I love my one cup coffee pot. Sure, the coffees are more expensive, and I'm sure it uses as much energy to brew a whole pot but I don't always have more than one cup. Tonight was a fluke. I noticed the other day that there are now tea pods. I might have to buy some. I got the Vanilla Skinny Lattes last week and love them. Don't get me wrong, this won't be replacing my trips to Starbucks or Uncommon Grounds but it is nice to have options.

I wish we would forge ahead with this world economy like in Star Trek where everyone works to better the world and not for themselves. Okay, I'm not a socialist but I really want things to be available for everyone. So if this happens we might have to all wear the "Earth Uniform" but that might not be so bad. Actually the more I think about this, I guess it's not really that good of an idea. I guess I just wish everyone could eat, live and be healthy without having to work umpteen hours in a poorly paying job.

OH!! Speaking of jobs. The Relay place called me today and they are starting training classes. Unfortunately they are only doing a day training class so I can't do that. She, the HR Lady, did remember that I was taking classes and that I needed night but just wanted to verify. I'll give her kudos for doing some followup.

I mentioned that we ordered Jerry's mom a computer? Well..if I didn't, I'm telling you now :P Anyway, We'll have to set it up and we thought all the parts would be in by now but they aren't. Hopefully tomorrow. I really don't want to spend all weekend over there but I think that's what will end up happening. At least she doesn't smoke any more. (She used to smoke 3 packs a day...smelly)

I guess I've rambled enough for now. Seems I've been in chatty mode for the past 5 hours. I've been online chatting with friends that long. Whew...

Insert Clever Title Here

...argh...

I went to WW today and gained again this week. That's 2 lbs in 2 weeks. I have NO idea why. I even skipped the bread at Panera this weekend. I should have ate it anyway. I'm starting a Weight Blog at www.extrapounds.com. That way I can rant away and examine each little thing I do without boring all of you. (Ok..I really think there are only 2 readers so yeah....you're the ones I'm talking to)

School is going well. Lots of homework. That means I get to watch videos of people signing at me and try to figure out what they are saying and then mimick them. :) It's fun though. I guess I'm getting better. I'm still nervous about having an actual conversation with someone though. Again, I know the important stuff, "I'd like a Beer, please" and "Where is the restroom?"

Jerry stayed home from work today, he's all stuffy. I think he's got what I had last week. He's going to be exausted for days. How fun for him. We ordered his mother a new computer and will have to go set it up, but not tonight. Stay home from work means you don't go over to your Mother's and set up computers. I don't think he'll argue with me on that one.

How about a movie?

Jerry took me out to dinner and a movie tonight. We went to Chili's for an early dinner. Then headed to Best Buy to waste an hour while we waited for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to begin.

Dinner was good, although I wanted more tea and he,the waiter, never came back to give me any. I had fajitas and Jerry had some salmon.

The movie, was good...and bad. Ok..the movie wasn't bad, just the experience. Let's face it, people are idiots. The weekend dad sitting next to me kept asking his 7 or 8 year old boy about "all things Potter" that he had no clue about. The family of five, all the kids who were under 6 kepts standing up and down through out the movie. We thought it was interesting that when the boy child would whisper to his dad, the dad would answer back in full volume voice. Idiot! The family behind us I believe had 2 children who apparently had bladder problems. I know one of the kids was very frightened during parts of the movie and begged to go home. Did the parents listen...OF COURSE NOT!! These movies are rated PG13 for a reason. Sure, for a 38 year old woman it wasn't too scary for me although it was a pretty dark film. As Jerry said in the car on the way home it was a great "date movie". Little romance, little action all in all a good film. But not for a child. Let's giggle as the parents who now have to tote their children home at 9:45pm (That's when the movie got out) and get them to go to bed. Yeah right!! "Mommy, mommy, I think there is a cobra under my bed" "Mommy, mommy, Is there going to be a man in our fireplace?" The only one who will get any sleep is "Weekend Dad" who will probably just let his kid stay up watching "Skin-a-max" as he drinks his Miller Lite. Ok..I might be a big cynical because I don't have children, and don't know what it's like to want to see a movie but have to tote my youngins along. I paid my $8.50 to see a movie, not listen to "weekend Dad" reconnect with his boy and the "Fertile Family" to have a night out. You'd think at 7pm show it would have been a little bit older of a crowd. We were expecting teens, but I guess they were in watching Hostel or something.

Act your age!

I had to copy Amber, cause she's cool like that.

You Are 31 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Sleep is for wimps....

Right now I wish I were wimpy. It's close to 4am and I'm sitting here wondering why I'm awake. I have NO clue why I'm up because I've been sleepy all day. I didn't nap, even though I wanted to. Wow...I think I'm rambling.

I should do some laundry, but that would be productive and no one should be productive at 4am.

I have a sore throat...My voice is scratchy....and I'm a tad whiny. Don't you just want to spend time with me? tee hee hee

Not much going on today. Dude was here to fix the yard wall. They poured the cement and now we'll just have to let it set. I spent the day doing some normal monday things. Weight Watchers but no class because of the holiday. Instead I went to Publix where it was packed!!

24 was great..I think it's probably the best drama on broadcast tv. I'd so do Jack Bauer!!!

A lovely afternoon.

Jerry and Lola finally met. The three of us went to the theater and saw King Kong. It was a really good film. I loved that they paid homage to the original movie. I even cried when Kong was dying. I just didn't want the big lug to die. He didn't mean to hurl those cars about. He was just misunderstood. *sigh* Poor Kong...

Awesome movie...

By the way you cheared me up a bit. Even though we haven't met in that thing people call "RL" I still consider you a friend....

I have some SciFi Friday news for you... During the season break in March. They will be showing Doctor Who Series 1 (the they call them Series instead of Season in England) which is 13 episodes plus a Christmas special. It's a "new" version kind of like what they did with Battlestar Galactica, but at the same time, like the Brits do, It's on the same timeline. So it's the 9th Doctor, counting the 1996 TV movie Doctor still as the 8th.

I had heard that. Wasn't there a Miniseris of the new Doctor Who about a year ago. Was pretty good if I remember right. I could be dreaming this all too.

Thank you, I consider you a friend too :)

Day two of Laundry Fest!

Laundry...still...I'm on my fourth load of the day right now. It looks like I have about four more to go. Lots of the clothes need to go to Goodwill because they don't fit any more. They have been sitting around in hampers (gross) for a long time. I think this weekend we'll go through clothes and take them to Goodwill.

Our "wall" is getting fixed from the accident that happened in our front yard. I don't know if he's pouring the cement today or not. I know he's been here since 8am and it looks like he is just now making the forms. *shrug* Not much else is new. I should be doing some studying but because we have Monday off I'm procrastinating. I should sign more... but there are a lot of things I should be doing that I'm not. Right? :)

It's SciFi Friday! I absolutely love Battlestar Galactica. Tonight's episode should be awesome! And Sunday the premier of 24's 5th Season. If you haven't seen the "prequel" to this season you might want to head over to the 24 Site. All this tv talk makes me sound like I watch lots of TV. I don't really...okay..I'm lying. My name is Jeanne and I'm a TV Addict. *"Hi Jeanne" echos from the 12 step group in the back ground*

Chores

We can do the innuendo
We can dance and sing
When it’s said and done we haven’t told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry!

Laundry! That's right..I'm doing laundry. I don't mind putting it in and moving it to the dryer. It's the folding and the putting away I don't like. I guess it's because I don't have a dresser. My clothes are piled up around the house and I don't like it. I think I'm going to do a little online window shopping for a dresser. I've had enough of this. I want organization. (Whoa...that sounds like crazy talk!)

Fun Day

OH MY GAWD! Lola gave me the cutest bag with the Angry Little Girls characters on it. I had never heard of them before but after reading the site I love them!!

We had a nice day together. We got off to a late start and lunch service was bad, my hair cut took twice as long as it normally does and on the way home we ended up downtown because we missed the fork. Oh yea..and we tried the Cinnamon Dolce Latte from Starbucks and decided we never had to order that again. Tee hee hee...but it was fun! I didn't buy anything at Sephora. I think I must have the flu or something. Ah well....next time.

Then Jerry and I went to Woody's for dinner and had a nice conversation about relationships. (Other peoples and ours) I truely am a lucky girl. I shouldn't take him for granted!

...stuff...

So ceruleanlobster and I did the coffee thing today. Was SOOO good to see her. We're going to do the whole "Lunch/Shopping" thing tomorrow. I was telling her about this quote in the movie Hitch with Will Smith. Thanks to IMDB I found it. It really hit me hard and I have been trying to live my life with this in mind.

Alex "Hitch" Hitchens: Life is not the amount of breaths you take, it's the moments that take your breath away.

Another great lines is this one.

Alex Hitch Hitchens: Like I always tell my clients - begin each day as if it were on purpose.

Ramblings

Jags lost their game 28-3 against the Patriots. They had a good 1st half but then just lost, well, their mo-jo in the 3rd quarter. Ah well...

We went a little crazy at Best Buy today. DVD-a-plenty. I got the 2nd season of Scrubs, Jerry wanted the King Kong movies so we got both version that have been out. We've been laughing about Beverly Hills Cop (The original) so of course we picked that up as well. Oh yea..and both versions of the Bad News Bears. *shrug* We do like our movies.

Had lunch at Chili's today, Quesadilla Explosion salad is "da bomb"! Get it...explosion...bomb....kaboom..get it? :D

Hmmm...what else..OH yea...Mom and Dad are getting restless. Wouldn't be surprised if they showed up in the next few months.

Jerry got his hair cut. (Finally)Talked to Lola for an hour. I've really missed our coffee nights.

Guess I'm done rambling...for now...

Traditions

Our tree is still up. It's always been a tradition in my family that the tree stays up until Epiphany. Some people think I'm crazy for keeping that tradition. It's just something that has always been for me.

School starts up again next week. Very light semester for me. One class, American Sign Language II. I really want to imerse myself if the Deaf Community this semester. I need more contact. I'm really hoping that CSD will call me soon to start my training to be a relay operator as well. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me.

Life has been alright. The holidays are over and I didn't have a nervous breakdown. The flu wasn't fun but it wasn't a breakdown. You think I'm kidding. I have spent holidays in tears because of the stress. This year, wasn't so bad. Maybe everyone is growing up. (heh)

As I reflect on the past year I'm thankful it's over. Was a tough year. Big mistakes, friendships lost, pieces of "me" missing... Not all of it was bad though. I did meet some wonderful people as well. I thank goodness for them. Even though some of them don't keep in touch as much as I'd like. I guess I'm to blame for part of that too. We get busy in our own little "worlds" that we ignore/disregard people that have been there in the past. I said earlier I don't make resolutions...I do however try to learn from my mistakes. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm going to make the effort this year. I might be rejected, but at least I tried.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a safe and festive New Year's Eve. We had a quiet evening in with another couple. Played some Clue and Skipbo. I won Clue and one round of Skipbo. At midnight we turned on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. We found it to be ...not so rockin'. *shrug* We had some sparkling wine. (A blush that our friends brought over) and then went outside to see our neighbors set off a ton of illegal fireworks.

I'm not much into resolutions. I've done some major changes in the past year. Lost over 30 lbs, went back to school after 14 years. I think I'm just going to keep on my current track and see how that turns out. Sure there are some things that I want to improve upon. I still have tons of weight to lose and school isn't over for me. I have about 4 more semesters to finish before I can go after my certification. I guess I'm more of a "learn from the past" kinda gal then a "make resolutions" one. *shrug* Life is what you make of it..right?
