Saturday Stroll

Jerry and I went to The Brick today for lunch. I had been wanting to try it and it was worth the wait. The place is always packed, or I should say that the outside tables are always taken. Inside it wasn't nearly as crowded when we arrived. The food was good and different. I had a chicken salad but the dressing was amazing. It had a nutty taste to it. Jerry had a Cuban Panini. I was jealous cause I wanted the cuban but I'm really working on the the WW Anyway, it was a lovely place. One thing we really liked is that it had a very intimate feeling. Tall booth backs and the tables were far enough apart that people wouldn't feel like they were on top of each other. After lunch we strolled around Avondale's shops. One of my favorite shops, Basket Case to the Rescue is located there. They have all kinds of wonderful little gifty things. After spending time in there we went down to Cowford Traders. I have to remember all these wonderful shops when I start my Christmas shopping. Another great little shop is Gottahaveit. I found lots of cute flamingo things there. Actually at all of the shops we went into. Oh yea..let me back up... in the Cowford Trader shop they have wonderful toys. I think Jerry and I played with almost everything. Was a very pleasant afternoon on such a beautiful day!

Yummy goodness

A local seafood placed called Crystal River has all you can eat crab legs on Mondays. That's where I just came home from. I am sooooo full. They were perfect. Cracked well and the meat came out easily. Getting Jerry to go out on a monday night takes practically an act of congress but I asked three days in advance. He admitted that if I would have waited until this afternoon the answer would have been "no". Thank goodness I knew that and asked. I even reminded him a few times during the weekend so he wouldn't forget that he couldn't come home on Monday and just crash. He's the best. I Jerry!

We were cool...weren't we?

Did you know Toto was still around? Well, they have a new album titled Falling in Between. It sounds pretty good. I'm going to look for it later on allofmp3 (see how cheap I can get it).  I can remember back in High School we would jam some Toto and Asia before Jazz band practice.  We thought we were so cool.

Ah yes, Toto and Asia. I heard some Asia the other day on my streaming audio, and Mark even started jamming. I love to hear songs that to this day can still sound so great.

Miguel tipped both of us off to it a while ago and I resisted for a while.

What kinda people watch the WB!?

So after work today I thought I'd enjoy some TV so I turned on the WB. Within one hour there were five commercials for Valtrex. Makes me wonder if the WB's demographics show that they are more likely to have genital herpes. I understand that there needs to be information out there so people can get information and medication but five commercials in one hour. I would think they would want to spread the word. (slight pun intended)

On the same note, kinda, do we really need all these commercials for erectile dysfunction, bladder incontinence and menopausal hot flashes? And why is it that some of the symptoms sound worse than the problems they are supposed to be solving. Don't people who have these problems know where to go?

On a funny note I have a joke that my mom told me.

This man worked at a pickle factory.
One day he came home and told his wife. "Today at work I had this crazy idea, I wanted to put my penis into the pickle slicer".
The wife horrified told him he should just try to concentrate on working and not think about that.
The next day he came home and said "I really want to put my penis into the pickle slicer".
The wife suggested he speak to a sex therapist about his urges but he vowed to harness his urges.
A week passed and the man came home one day very upset. His wife asked "what's wrong"
He responded " I got fired today"
She asked, "Why?"
He told her "Well I couldn't help myself, I put my penis in the pickle slicer".
Horrified the wife looked at her husband and asked "Well what happened?"
He looked at his wife and said "They fired her too"!

Ba-da ba-da-da-da

"Monday, Monday...."

Today wasn't such a bad day. Worked at 7:30am. Went to WW (oof..ok that wasn't great. Damn ham and cadbury eggs) Then drove to the other side of the city for class and found out it was cancelled. Was meeting Lola at 3:45 so with nearly 2 hours to kill I went shopping. Went to William Sonoma and got a bagel slicer. The "Alternative Bagels" I buy (only 1 pts on WW) aren't sliced, so I really needed one. Still had plenty of time to spare so hit Claire's and got some cute little floral rings (3 for $5), some earrings and a "Hello Kitty" cell phone charm for Lola. (She loves "Hello Kitty") I still had about 20 minutes and Barnes and Nobles was next door. I looked for a book that I have been wanting to get. It was written by a Fraternity Sister (yes I said Fraternity because that's what it is ) She is a very cool person. I need to email her... I should just order it. Anyway... Shopping finished, I head to Lola's work to pick her up so we can spend the next couple hours at Uncommon Grounds, a local coffee shop that has free WiFi (Didn't bring my laptop this time). The people who run it are very nice. They really need to get a website so I can share them with you.

Hmmm...did I miss anything... don't think so...oh yeah!! Have a good rest of your Monday!

Tainted Love

One of my favorite songs is Tainted Love by Soft Cell. Well the other day I was driving to school and heard this great song with Tainted Love sampled in the back. I found out that it is a song called SOS By Rihanna. After class I zoomed home and hit iTunes to find out that it won't be released until the end of the month. I definitely will be hitting allofmp3 to download this addictive song. I haven't heard any of her other stuff *shrug* maybe I'll do some digging but for now. I just crave that song.

Tuesday Thoughts

Not really much to say. My brain is all scrambled so I thought I would just list in random order what I have been thinking about today.

If Illegal Immigrants really want rights why don't they work on becoming citizens?

Is sign language really going to fulfill me?

How come I don't have cake in the house?

Why does laundry pile up so damn fast?

What is my purpose?

Why did I wait so long to get my hair appointment?

I really need to get rid of all this stuff in my house.

I wonder how many cd's I really have...

Does Tabitha understand me? (Tabitha is my cat, by the way)

How come we don't have children? and why is adopting so damn expensive and scary?

If we had a fish tank would Tabitha try to eat the fishies?

I hope Jerry wants spaghetti tonight for dinner.

oh hell let's answer them all. in order;

no idea

fulfill? tall order, probably not

not a clue

cause you're married, men wear a lot

see previous response

you were just on vacation, it happens

not really a questions

audio or bank related

blah blah no blah blah tabitha blah blah blah

you can borrow mine anytime you want. Adoption is more expensive cause health insurance doesn't cover it like it does dr's bills.

who knows, but the fish would be amusing either way.

Me too

Lazy day

Sundays are meant for rest. We took full advantage of that today. I have no clue why both of us have been exhausted. I guess from last weeks time change.

The government wants me to believe that changing my clock an hour twice a year saves energy. I don't know about you but at 6:00am I have to turn on lights to see to get dressed. During standard time, I don't. How is that saving me money? Now, I can see how it might save energy cost back in 1784 when Benjamin Franklin wrote his essay An Economical Project,. In summary it was talking about the cost of lamp oil and moving the clocks to give more "daylight" and use less oil. I don't think that still applies. I do have to admit that I'm "Mole girl". I love my computer room to be dark, very dark. I usually do not turn on lights except for meals in the evening. I can navigate by the glow of my television around the house.

Hopefully todays nap fest will have kicked my sleep schedule back into synch.

I should throw a brick...

That's right...a brick through any car window where the car alarm is going off and the owner is NOT turing it off within minutes. Last night I almost called the cops on my neighbors. Exausted, Jerry and I decided to head to bed early. We picked a movie and settled in around 10:15pm. At 10:45pm just about the time I was drifting off the neighbors car, which is parked RIGHT under our bedroom window, alarm went off. It's not a normal alarm. This one just honks the horn about once a second. This went on for 10 minutes. Okay, whew...it's over. So I thought! I get comfy again, my eyelids get heavy and the horn starts going off again. I looked at the clock and it was 11:00pm. Okay surely they can't let it go on very long, I mean they just turned it off. Twenty one minutes...yes TWENTY ONE I was in the living room looking up the phone number for the non-emergancy number for the Police. I huffed and puffed, sat on the bed staring at Jerry wondering how he could sleep. I caught his eyes opened for a second and sighed and he grumbled "What do you want me to do?" . Frustrated it finally went off but I was too upset to sleep. At 1:30am I finally was tired and calm enough to lay back down. I think my eyes closed tightly before my head even hit the pillow.
