Isn't everything good on toast?

No energy!

Ever have those days where you just didn't want to do anything. Didn't want to go to work, school or even to Starbucks? Well...That's what my car decided today. She was DEAD. I couldn't even use the electronic key opener. That's how dead she was. So right now I'm waiting for the Tow truck to come take it to the shop. I had to call out of work. No more perfect attendance for me. (I should add that for every month you have perfect attendance you get an extra break to use at your leisure.)

I'm hoping my friend Bev will give me a ride to school. I really don't want to miss my classes.

Michigan, My Michigan

I don't know why today I thought about my many years attending Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp both as a student and as a camp counselor. Those are some great summer memories. The smell of the camp. The anticipation of meeting kids who were also "band geeks" like me. Kissing boys and then rushing back to my cabin to gossip about it with my new girlfriends. *sigh* Good times...

I'm missing Michigan today. Don't get me wrong I love it here but there are 29 years of memories there. I miss swimming and not having to worry about gators or sharks. Seems there is always a shark sighting on the days I go to the beach. The smell of the trees. Yes we have pine forests here in North Florida but it isn't the same. I think it's the combination of pine trees and maples and birch trees..man...I haven't seen a birch tree since our last trip to Michigan. Star gazing....I miss that. Living near Downtown Jacksonville the lights of the city make it hard to see the stars. I do get my fill of stars when we cruise but I think of the times I lived in Northern Michigan and saw them every night driving from small town to small town.

I think part of my reason for being homesick is that I'm reading Lilan Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who..." series. There are many references to small towns, "Down Below" and a definite change of seasons. I'm about half way through the series and am loving it.

So to all my friends in Michigan, You are also in my thoughts today. I miss you!

You know though...I don't miss brushing off a foot of snow from the hood of my car.

Sucked in

Woke up this morning (no this isn't the theme song from The Soprano's) to the news in London. It was an eerie feeling at work. It strikes me odd that we are sucked into these news events. I was puzzled with myself as I stared at the same video feed of a rooftop of a house in London. Even now they are showing planes landing. I know this is big news..but why do I get sucked into it? Is the world more dangerous or is it that we just hear about it more?

I'm going to play EQ2 and/or SWG and turn off the news. I'm not avoiding reality...just taking a break from the news overload.

I'm with you...I haven't read too much about it yet, but I'm ready to just not think about it for a while. It's too scary.

With our Vegas trip coming up in little over a month, I wonder how they will handle lotion, makeup, hair gel, etc. Hmmm...I may have to do some reading on it eventually.

Bummer...the world is getting freakier and freakier.

Yeah...even toothpaste and contact solution have to be packed in your checked luggage. Crazy...I'm sure there will be more out in the next few days about what is acceptable to take and stuff.

Sometimes short cuts just don't work out

Next week in class we have to sign a song. I looked through all of CD's and mp3's looking for the shortest song to make it easier. I ended up picking "They Dance Alone" by Sting. I don't know why...I was just searching through music and this song called out to me. I should also tell you that it is 7 minutes and 10 seconds. So much for picking the shortest song. I think the shortest in my library was 1 minute 38 seconds. Most of my friends are doing country songs. (Sometimes I forget that I live in the south) or Inspirational songs. (Hello, Bible belt!) Anyway, I have been a Sting fan since...well...since I got my first Police album Reggatta De Blanc in 1979. It was a really tough choice finding a song suitable enough for me to sign without my hands cramping up.

WOW....we DO share a brain. I was just commenting to Mark how much I love Police today while we were dining out at Applebee's.

Syncronicity was playing, and I immediately thought about how much I love that entire album. :)

4:30am is just too early

I'm on a new schedule at work. I love having weekends off. The only downside is that on Tuesdays I have to be there at 6:00am. The alarm goes off at 4:30am, I do hit the snooze for a half hour. Thankfully Jerry sleeps through it all. The only real upside is that I'm out of there by 10:00am. Not many calls at 6:00 in the morning. You'd be surprised though. I know that if anyone called me that early it better be for something really really good.

I was really hoping to just veg out this evening and watch some TV. Not anything specific just random TV...not really anything on. *shrug* I should be doing homework...but I feel like procrastinating.

With the super-early start time, at least you get home by mid-morning. Gives you lots of time to do other fun stuff. :)
