Target disappointed me

I love that store, or I should say I loved that store. I usually rave about it but today was not a good Target day. We went there for a specific item. We knew that it was going to be tough to find so I did some research online and sure enough the website said they had them in stock. We go to the department and asked "Skippy" about the item and he said, after giving us that blank stare while he was processing what we said, "No". So I asked if he could check the other stores and he said "They can do that for you at Customer Service". Ok...fine..Jerry's remake cracked me up though. As we were walking away he said something along the lines of "Yeah, wouldn't want to make you work". I chuckled. We arrive at the Customer Service counter and I ask if they could check the other stores for what we were looking for. "Sure." the girl says and then immediately calls over to the department we just left. No surprise, no one answered. GAH! So there was a nice young man (I can say that now that I'm in my 40's) who said he would just walk over and under his breath mentioned that they were lazy over there. Yay for empowerment! Before he could walk over some other voice came from the radio stating that there were no items in the district that "she" knew of. Not that anyone did a search for us at all. After deciding how to deal with the lack of customer service, we left. We took our business to Best Buy. I called them and they had the items in stock. The person who answered even offered to hold one but it was only going to take us a few minutes to get there. A much better experience with their Customer service.

I wanted to check the website again to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Yes, the item still says that they are available at the Target we went to. Maybe I'll start getting my Method products online and just do a little boycotting. Wouldn't be the first time this family boycotted a store for terrible customer service.

Hey Gknee, like you this family regularly boycotts poor cust. svc.

I've been following your blog awhile, best wishes on the interpreting career. I'm a second career teacher in training, now in JAX. About 2 generations ago I taught computer skills; some of my trainees were deaf/hearing impaired, so I took an intro sign language course and worked with interpreters. Haven't used it in forever.

Thought you might be interested in the following blog, if you don't already know about it. I stumbled across it looking for clipart for thumbs-up, thumbs-down, and thumbs-sideways [havent yet found it].

I've heard that Target's return policy is among the worst in the biz. I don't shop there often, but when I do, I make certain I won't have to return any items!

Blur

My days are blurring into one another. It's not even that busy anymore. I've cut back my intern hours as I'm done with the requirements but want to keep myself in the "hot seat" until the state exam in May. Even the two classes I have on Tuesdays and Thursdays seem like one big clas with a 10 minute break between.

One cool thing I did for myself is that I made myself go look at the lunar eclipse last night. I'm wishing I would have taken pictures but oh well... It was really neat. The red moon made my inner vampire want to come out!

No big plans coming up. Par for the course. Just waiting until spring break for something exciting to happen around here.

I did chop off my hair. That's new, I guess.

Presidents' Day

Happy Presidents' Day! I'm enjoying the time off from my Internship and school. No Monday night, three hour long class...YAY!!

It's not all fun and Presidential parties here today though. I have laundry to do. I avoided it over the weekend so I have to get to it today.

The weekend was very pretty. 70°'s and sunny. Jerry and I tried to go fly my kite Saturday afternoon at Memorial Park but there was no wind. Correction, there was not a steady or strong enough breeze to fly a kite. There was an occasional whisper of wind. Overall a beautiful day in Jacksonville. Yesterday was the same but we didn't get out in it as much. Just to walk between Qdoba and Publix.

So have a great Presidents' Day!

Ahhh, go fug yerself! No frickin' mail, MY Monday night class met for FOUR hours, and the 30-mph winds not only pulled the temps below zero BUT blew great gales of snow all over my previously-clear roads. Bleah!

Mmm

I'm hooked on Pom Light Wildberry White Tea! It's a little more expensive than other drinks but it's a treat and I love it! The Light Hibiscus Green Tea is pretty good too. Haven't tried the Light Orange Blossom Red Tea yet.

They are cheaper than my Starbucks goodness. Probably better for me too, although I do get everything fatfree if possible. They just got fatfree mocha syrup. They really need to get a fat free peppermint syrup. Then, it would be perfect!

When Starbucks gets a fat-free or sugar free peppermint syrup, I'm going to get a Mocha EVERY day!!

I'll have to try that tea, though. It looks way yummy!

Unofficially

My internship is completed. I've finished the required hours but am going to keep on going to keep my interpreting fresh. I have reduced the hours I'm there. I am looking for a job that will actually pay me for my interpreting. Jerry makes me laugh when I say something about my internship he comments, "What are they going to do? Fire you?"

Random Thoughts

Internships are tough. I should be with someone at all times but it hasn't worked out that way. It's not that I don't benefit when I'm on my own. I get the experience of interpreting all by myself. However I get worried that I'm not clear and the students aren't getting the correct information. Maybe all interpreters feel this way when they start. *shrug*

Laundry keeps piling up. How come? Why isn't it like fairy tales where the pets do the chores to help out the princess? Aren't I a princess?

Having to ask to borrow a key to use the staff bathroom is not fun. I feel like a little kid asking permission all the time.

There is no Starbucks on the way to the middle school. That's just wrong!

Spring Break, I can't wait to get away from it all!

I'm so crazy

I completely forgot to watch the Superbowl yesterday. I remembered around 8:30pm that it was on but didn't turn it on then either. I am kind of in shock that I let football pass me by. What kinda fan am I? One who goes to school and is doing an internship I guess. The weekend was all about transcribing a video into ASL gloss and reading about Linguistics and Discourse that football didn't enter my plans. Oh well..there will be other games.

This is my last week of 5 days at the middle school. I will have completed my required hours but still want to go to keep up the interpreting until the state test in May. It will be nice as the laundry needs to be caught up and my eye has been twitching for 4 days now.

1 month 26 days until Spring Break and the cruise!

Whad'Ya Know?

Not much, y'all! That's right, Jerry and I went to the show today and it was great. Lots of fun. Rebecca Zapen was the musical guest. Her song "Smile" the album Japenese Bathhouse did just that, made me smile. She's from Jacksonville, which of course makes her even cooler. You can also catch her on myspace. The guests were some local celebrities and over all it was just great fun. Was nice to see Jerry laughing too.

I'm putting off my homework, I have no clue why I procrastinate so much but I'm really not wanting to do it at all. Maybe it's just that I know in May it will be over and I'm ready to be done with school. *shrug*

Cramps

I have been having terrible cramps all week. Not the female kind but all over my body. Some of it is because of how much I'm interpreting and muscle fatigue. My hands sometimes will cramp up so bad that they look deformed. It takes me a minute but usually I can stretch them out and it's fine. Also my legs have cramping up as well. Early in the week it was just at night but now it's happening throughout the day. I've been eating bananas to help and it is a little but I think the real problem is that I'm not getting enough fluids. I'm constantly thirsty. Dry mouth kinda thirsty. I know that I haven't been drinking enough of anything and have been trying to drink more water as I know this will help but when I do drink it's making my stomach hurt. Another reason I'm not drinking is that during the day I don't have the time or availability to use a rest room so I'm almost afraid to drink anything. I know this isn't healthy and it has me a little worried. I have my water next to me and I'm trying to drink as much of it as I can. I'm hoping that it's just because I'm so tired and this weekend I can relax and rehydrate.

Be sure to get enough water, but supplement with fresh fruit, too. If you can't make do with the water, maybe you can get some sort of electrolyte replacement drink (i.e. Gatorade G2..less sugar than most).

Take care of yourself.
