Cha-ching!
Got my first check as a contract interpreter today. Woo hoo! Feels good to get paid for something I love.
Now I just need more gigs!
Isn't everything good on toast?

I hate those night when the mind just won't stop so you can't get to sleep. I wish I could blame the comfort of my bed but the Select Comfort is NOT the problem here. (45 seems to be where I'm settling ) Lots going on with Jerry's mom in the hospital and stuff. I did end up watching Blast from the Past and Babe last night. Both great little movies.

Today I got to take a new path in my journey of being an interpreter. I had my first official "gig" and it went great! It feels good to get out there and actually do it. Now I want more! Yes..I'm greedy!

So our Select Comfort Bed arrived today. So far so good. Although I think we are losing air (it's not staying at 100 after I fill). Not sure though. Tonight will be the real test. I think my sleep number is 35. When trying it out both in the store and at home that is where I'm not feeling any pressure on my hips or shoulders. Jerry thinks his number is around there too.

We love our Select Comfort bed!!

I think if one is going to be a whore, the gadget route is the best choice! I considered a Select Comfort bed when I was in the market (The Bionic Woman, I mean Lindsay Wagner can be so compelling), but ended up getting Westin Resort's "Heavenly Bed" after a stay at one of their hotels in Vancouver, BC. They made it so convenient. A little card on the nightstand asking the reader, "Did you sleep well? You can have this same experience in your home" ... along with a phone number to call. Operators truly were standing by!
Enough rambling. I hope you and @docsavage enjoy your new bed!
Yeah..the Bionic Woman was a selling factor. (I still have my Lindsay Wagner as the Bionic Woman "barbie doll") "Heavenly Bed" hmm..I had never heard about that. Time to google! Although so far I'm loving our Select Comfort. I'm narrowing in on my sleep number. I think it's 45.

Hi Jeanne!
I work for Select Comfort in customer service and sometimes we search the blogosphere to see what people are saying about our beds and offer help if needed.
Most often when new bedowners report a decrease in the number it's a result of taking readings when not laying on the bed. Since the Sleep Number is a measurement of air pressure inside the mattress, it will show a lower number if your body weight is missing from the equation. If you take all your readings while laying on the bed in your sleep position, the numbers should normalize.
If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us. We can be reached at 1-800-472-7185, or via email at customerservice@selectcomfort.com
At our website we've recently added a blog called "the Slumber Party" where we employees can share our stories. It's at www.beds.com/blog. Also at beds.com you can post a review, read collected articles about sleep-related topics, watch videos, and there's even a feature called "share the love" where you can tell your friends and family about the bed.
Thanks for choosing the Sleep Number bed!

Sunday - call from mom-in-law saying she needed to go to the hospital. Admitted with blood sugars of 1130. Broken leg that she didn't even know about.

Glad that mom-in-law is doing better. I hope she continues to do well.
Great going on the interpreting gig, too! Practice makes perfect. :)

You're right...this gives you a year to hone your skills and you'll kick that test square in the arse next year.. :)
Life is crazy how things work out. I needed a push to get out there and just interpret and this week that little push came. I put my two weeks notice in at ILRC. I graduated in May with this degree in Sign Language Interpreting and I guess I was waiting for some gold leaf engraved invitation to be an interpreter. Yeah...doesn't work that way. I have my name out there with a few agencies and hopefully I'll get some gigs here soon. I'm thankful that Jerry is on board with my antics. I'm truly a lucky girl.

Welcome to the unknown. It's not so bad once you're here a while. I have those feelings whenever I go into work now, but they are becoming less and less. :)
Congrats, and I think you made the right move!!
Leap of faith, yes, but also a brave choice. It reminds me of a passage in a book I recently read:
"When you choose one way out of many, all the ways you don't take are snuffed out like candles, as if they'd never existed. At the moment, all Will's choices existed at once. But to keep them all in existence meant doing nothing. He had to choose, after all."
- Philip Pullman The Amber Spyglass
Congratulations and good luck!
