Summer break ’14 has begun…

jacksonsquareAnother school year came to a close last Friday.  I’m now sitting in a hotel in New Orleans enjoying the sights and sounds.

Every year Jerry’s company puts on a conference and I get to tag along.  This year the conference is in New Orleans. We usually come a couple a days before the conference so we can see the local sights. New Orleans is hot. Both in temperature and in style.  We spent Sunday riding the streetcars, walking around Jackson Square, and enjoying beignets with Cafe Au Lait at Cafe Du Monde.  Monday was more streetcar riding and checking out the garden district houses.  Wow! They are beautiful.  I want to see what they look like on the inside.

The rest of the week has been busy for Jerry.  He usually pulls 12-14 hour days full of networking and schmoozing.  His nights are filled with client dinners and receptions.  I did get to attend a couple of receptions.  Tonight is big celebration with a party at Generations Hall.  Looking forward to it.  They always do their final night celebrations big…I’m sure tonight will be the same.

So what do I do while he is busy working?  Lounge around.  Yup…that’s why I come.  I know that Jerry needs to entertain me but I’m really here to cash in on the hotel stay.  I love not having to worry about picking up towels, laundry, changing the sheets on the bed, or any of those household chores that will be there when we get home on Friday.  This is my time to relax after the school year.

Next week I’m off to Silent Weekend.  It’s work related but one of the most enjoyable workshop weekends.  …and it’s another hotel stay.
